May at the Portland church....

by Steve J | April 29, 2010

Please forgive me if the website and bulletins are even more irregularly attended to than usual. This is a busy month for the congregation and for my family. I'm on my way to Jessica Arthur's wedding and have a little traveling to take care of this month while we adjust to a new challenge facing my family in regards to Lisa's health.

Greg, always interesting...our speaker on Sunday, May 23rd.

We appreciate your kind notes and prayers for Lisa. Since receiving the diagnosis we've been trying to learn as much as we can about SLL and take the steps prudent to see to her best interest without totally neglecting all of our responsibilities. I am personally so thankful for how so many of you have rallied around us for Lisa's sake and pulled together to take care of needs in the church as well. It's impossible to thank everyone, but with the needs we have in Kid's Kingdom I really appreciate Josh Paul. He's always giving extra on Sundays and with the Reist/Jones wedding coming up, he's stepping in the gap even more. Thanks. The elders and so many folks, like Joey and Chelsea and the campus girls, are always finding ways to help my family and encourage and support us. I can't thank you enough. We certainly are extra thankful Mom and Buzz are here with us, along with all of the rest of the congregation. This is a challenging time to say the least.

I'd encourage you to take a look at the calendar. We have baby showers and a wedding this month; along with a single's retreat in Spokane and two guest speakers. Roger Lamb will be speaking to the men on men's night, May 19th and one of my best friends, Greg Garcia will be preaching for us on Sunday, May 23rd. Roger has been a friend since before Lisa and I were married. We go all the way back to Charleston, Illinois...1976....and he's coming through Portland especially to see us on his way to the single's retreat in Spokane. Greg is my friend, confidant and motorcycle buddy. He's coming to speak to us on stewardship and has a message that you'll want to invite everyone to come and hear.

Roger, our guest on Wednesday, may 19th...

Thanks isn't a big enough word for how we feel towards this church. You've all been there for us time and time again. With all of our hearts, thank you and God bless you.
